Artist Information
Do As Infinity
Do As Infinity is a Japanese band blending pop and rock genres, founded in 1999 by vocalist Tomiko Van, guitarist Ryo Owatari, and guitarist/composer Dai Nagao. Often shortened to DAI, the band's name pays homage to Nagao's contribution. Initially under Avex Trax, they debuted with "Tangerine Dream" in September 1999, and their early singles led to their first album, Break of Dawn (2000). Nagao transitioned solely to composing after December 2000, steering away from live performances. Subsequent to their debut album, they released five more studio albums, culminating with Need Your Love in 2005.
Following their A-side singles compilation Do the A-side (2005), Do As Infinity disbanded on September 29, 2005. Post-disbandment, Van pursued a solo path, Owatari worked with Missile Innovation (established in 2004), and Nagao collaborated with various artists at Avex Trax. They reunited on September 29, 2008, sans Nagao, and introduced the new single "∞1" in June 2009, preceding their seventh album, Eternal Flame (2009). Their most recent studio album is Brand New Days, released in February 2015.
